Handstand Retreat - Training

June 20 - 25, 2026 - Retreat to Southern Italy

Twice-daily, handstand-specific training sessions are led by Coach Virgile, with support from Coach David. Each day includes two sessions designed to meet students where they are and progressively build skill.

Morning sessions focus on foundational work and are ideal for beginners or those solidifying fundamentals. Detailed instruction covers entries, balance and alignment, falling safety, strength progressions, shape-shifting drills, and partner spotting—essential elements for building a sustainable and confident handstand practice.

Afternoon sessions are geared toward intermediate and advanced practitioners looking to refine and expand their skill set. Training emphasizes more complex handstand shapes such as tuck, straddle, and half pike, along with head movement, longer endurance straight-line holds, and the use of props including blocks and canes. These sessions will also focus on the strength development and power required for press handstands in all variations—tuck, straddle, pike, Stalder and L-sit.

This retreat is designed to be a transformative experience; to challenge your limits and elevate your handstand practice. Over six days and five nights, you'll train with a legendary coach in the stunning backdrop of the Southern Italian coast, combining the precision of technique with the joy of exploration. From beginners eager to take their first steps upside-down to advanced practitioners refining their skills, this retreat caters to every level of handstand enthusiast.
